On the initiative of Rachilė Margolis (1921-2015), a former prisoner of the Vilnius Ghetto and a member of the ghetto’s underground resistance organisation, a long-time employee of the Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History and with her own personal funds, a memorial stone was erected in 1999 in memory of the Jewish inmates of the Nazi forced-labour HKP and the Kailis camps and of the doctors of the Vilnius Military Hospital, who had been murdered in the early July 1944 in Paneriai.
